TD Bank Wire Transfer Limit Canada 2026 | Domestic & International

Updated

Wire transfers are the right tool when an e-Transfer is too small or not accepted by the recipient — large real estate deposits, international business payments, or sending funds to countries where Interac does not operate. TD supports both domestic and international wires online (up to $50,000/day) and in-branch for any amount. TD All-Inclusive account holders receive domestic wire transfers at no charge as part of their plan.

How to Receive an International Wire at TD

Provide the sender with all five pieces of information:

DetailValue
Bank nameToronto-Dominion Bank
SWIFT/BIC codeTDOMCATTTOR
Your transit number5 digits (find in TD EasyWeb)
Your account numberAs shown in EasyWeb
Bank addressToronto-Dominion Centre, 66 Wellington Street West, Toronto, ON M5K 1A2

Missing the bank address — which some international senders overlook — can delay or return the wire.

Wire Transfer vs E-Transfer vs Bank Draft

MethodLimitFeeSpeedBest For
Interac e-Transfer$3,000/transaction$0 (most plans)30 minEveryday payments
Domestic wire$50,000+$25 (free on All-Inclusive)Same dayLarge CAD payments
International wire$50,000+$40–$651–5 daysCross-border payments
Bank draftUp to account balance~$10ImmediateGuaranteed payment

For most personal transactions under $3,000, an e-Transfer is simpler and free. A wire transfer is worth the fee when the amount exceeds e-Transfer limits, the recipient is outside Canada, or same-day settlement is required.

In-Branch Wire Transfers

For amounts above the $50,000 online daily limit, initiate the wire at any TD branch:

  1. Bring government-issued photo ID
  2. Provide the recipient’s full banking details in writing
  3. A teller processes the wire and provides a receipt

TD’s extended hours — many branches open until 8 PM on weekdays — make in-branch wire submissions more accessible than at most other Big 5 banks, particularly for clients who cannot visit during standard business hours.
