TD Bank E-Transfer Limit Canada 2026 | Interac Send & Receive Limits

Updated

TD Bank Interac e-Transfer limits control how much you can send per transaction, per day, and per month. For most TD personal banking clients on Every Day Chequing or above, the limits are high enough for everyday use — the $3,000 per-transaction cap is the ceiling most commonly encountered, typically when paying a large bill or splitting a significant expense with another person.

How to Send an Interac E-Transfer with TD

  1. Log in to TD EasyWeb or open the TD app
  2. Navigate to Send MoneyInterac e-Transfer
  3. Select the account to send from
  4. Enter the recipient’s email address or phone number
  5. Enter the amount (up to your per-transaction limit)
  6. Add a security question and answer (unless the recipient has Auto-Deposit enabled)
  7. Add an optional message and confirm

Funds are typically available within 30 minutes during business hours. Overnight or weekend transfers may take until the next business day.

Interac Auto-Deposit

Auto-Deposit lets recipients receive e-Transfers directly into their account without answering a security question. It is set up by the recipient.

  • If the recipient has Auto-Deposit enabled, no security question is needed
  • Funds are deposited automatically; the recipient receives a notification
  • Enable Auto-Deposit for your own TD account through EasyWeb or the TD app under Interac e-Transfer settings → Auto-Deposit

Auto-Deposit is more secure than security-question transfers because there is no answer to intercept or social-engineer.

Sending Large Amounts Above the Limit

If you need to send more than $3,000 in a single transaction:

Split into multiple transfers: Send up to $3,000 in separate e-Transfers to the same recipient, provided you stay within your daily limit.

Wire transfer: For amounts above your daily e-Transfer limit, a wire transfer is the alternative. TD wire transfers can handle significantly larger amounts for a flat fee of approximately $25 (domestic).

Bank draft: For guaranteed large payments (real estate deposits, vehicle purchases), a bank draft is issued at any TD branch. See how to get a bank draft in Canada.

Requesting an E-Transfer Limit Increase

Temporary increase (up to 7 days)

Call TD at 1-866-222-3456 (24/7) and explain the reason for the increase. Temporary increases are typically approved in one call for clients in good standing.

TD’s extended branch hours — many locations open until 8 PM on weekdays and Saturday — also allow in-branch limit adjustment requests at times when other banks are closed.

Permanent increase

Contact TD by phone or visit any branch. Business clients should speak with their TD Business Banking advisor for recurring high-volume transfer arrangements.
