Some payroll platforms — particularly US-built HR software used by cross-border employers — request a single 9-digit routing number rather than separate transit and institution fields.

Only use the 9-digit EFT format when a single combined routing number field is presented. If the form has separate transit and institution fields, use the standard Canadian format.

TD Direct Investing Routing Numbers
TD Direct Investing accounts have their own transit and account numbers, separate from your TD Canada Trust banking branch. The institution number (004) is the same, but the transit number differs.
